This will seem obvious to many here, but how can I identify the most recent MacBook Pro 13" and the second most recent?

For example, here is some copy that I took from a retail site. These examples may not be complete. The most recent MacBook Pro may not even be on this list.

Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro with Retina display, Dual-core Intel Core i5 2.7GHz (5th generation processor), 16GB RAM, 256GB PCIe-based flash storage, Force Touch Trackpad, Two Thunderbolt 2 ports, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 10 hours of battery life, OS X Yosemite (Z0QN-2.7-16-256-RTN)

Apple 13.3" MacBook Pro dual-core Intel Core i5 2.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB 5400-rpm hard drive, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Mac OS X Yosemite (MD101LL/A)

Apple 13" MacBook Pro - 2.5GHz 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (3rd Gen Ivy Bridge Processor) 4GB DDR3 memory | 500GB 5400-rpm hard drive Intel HD Graphics 4000 Glossy Widescreen Display Two USB 3.0 ports

Apple 13" MacBook Pro (with Retina display) 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 (4th Gen Haswell Processor) 8GB DDR3L memory | 128GB flash storage Intel Iris Graphics Up to 9 hours of battery life Weight: 3.46 lbs | Thickness: 0.71 inch Two Thunderbolt 2 Ports

Thanks. :)

Download Mactracker from the apple store. It is a free app and it is updated frequently. They include all kinds of information on model numbers etc. That is the source I go to when I have questions. And if you are still confused by how someone is describing their computer they are trying to sell, you will know what to ask to know for sure.

FYI: of the ones you have listed -
1st one is the newest - indicated by the Force touch pad, that is the newest one.
2nd one is a 2012 - the model number indicates that plus the Intel HD Graphics 4000.
3rd one is 2012 or early 2013 - Ivy bridge and Intel HD Graphics 4000 is the indicator.
4th one is the second newest - late 2013 or 2014 due to Haswell, Iris Graphics - but this could be wrong because there is not enough information.
