Hi,

I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Air and I am having really bad keyboard problems. I do no have AppleCare, and was wondering if anyone knows how much it would cost to get the keyboard (I believe it is the whole top case) replaced?

The key caps keep coming off, and even when I take it in, they just put it back on and then when I get home I have the same problem.

Thanks,

Kevin

The whole top case does not need to be replaced. The keyboard is a separate part…so only the keyboard needs to be purchased (about $50). So if you can do the replacement yourself…about $50 and you're good to go.

If you need it done professionally I'm not exactly sure how much it would cost exactly. A knowledgeable repair person should be able to do it in an hour or less. So let's say a hour labor…but a repair place may also charge more for the part itself.
