Message: <blockquote data-quote="chscag" data-source="post: 1231237" data-attributes="member: 46727">I wouldn't go so far to say it's pointless to continue operating off the external hard drive.  However, if you wish to try a new internal hard drive to see if the old one was the cause, that's OK.  Reinstalling Snow Leopard over the clone will not remove or delete any of your applications or documents.  (Assuming you do not erase the hard drive first.)  A SL reinstall will overwrite system files with new ones and leave everything else intact.  After the reinstall, you'll have to run software update to bring SL up to 10.6.7.  Be sure to keep one good copy of the clone or a Time Machine backup in case something goes wrong during the swap and reinstall.</blockquote>
