I have been using the same backup on my iOS device through 9 phones since 2008 and I know that it is time to start over again with a clean install of iOS. The thing is, I would like to keep just the "Camera Roll"

intact because of all the neat pictures I have in it over the past 11 years. I know I have it backed up on my computer, google and amazon folders, but I was hoping to keep a copy of it in my camera roll as well.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

There are several ways to do this. As you said, you have no real worries as the contents of your Camera Roll are backed up to several sites.

What I think you are asking is how to get the contents of Camera Roll back on to either a new iPhone or the present one that you intend to wipe clean and start over.

1. iTunes will do this

2. iCloud will do this

3. A third party like iMazing 2 will do this.

Personally I'm not sure why you would want to perform a "Clean Instal" of your iOS although it does give you a fresh start, forces you to revisit and reset all your preferences, BlueTooth devices, WiFi passwords, desktop and lock screen images etc, etc, not to mention Facial recognition, ring tones and so on. You will also need to have all your account passwords on hand for such apps as banking, Face Book and especially any Authentication Apps like Google Authenticator which will need to be ported to the new iOS via your Google account.

Here is a good article on the topic I suggest you read first. Doing a clean install of iOS 12 on your new iPhone? Here's what you'll bring over and what you'll lose | iMore

Of course if it all gets too much you can always elect to restore from a backup which I strongly suggest you make first. If you take advantage of the Encrypted Backup to iCloud in iTunes backup preferences it will save your passwords as well as all your personal info like the Health app data and eMail accounts.
