hey guys,
i know this is possible because i did it on my pc (with iTunes v.4), but for some reason, iTunes v.6 won't let me open .wma files. i have some .wma files that i want to convert over to .mp3 files and i used to be able to just click on them and iTunes would ask me if i wanted to convert these files as a copy and i would click yes and it would do it for me. now, for some reason, it won't work at all. i've checked the iTunes help folder and it says tha i can convert by right clicking, clicking convert, etc, but i'm not even able to open the .wma files at all and they won't show up in my library whatsoever. i even changed my .wma files to only open in iTunes and still nothing. can somebody help a brother out? thanks guys.

That only works on the PC version of iTunes. You will have to purchase EasyWMA to convert your wma files on a Mac

Just a note in case you do not know. If they are Protected WMA files, you can not convert them. Since all yours worked before you should be ok with EasyWMA. I have it and it's a great little program.

You have to register and pay a small amount for EasyWMA I believe. Otherwise it does the first few seconds like you found. It's the best thing I have ever used on the Mac and to me worth the small cost.

well, i only want it to convert five or six songs that i have, but i don't want to pay money for something i'm only going to use once and then forget about. is there another program out there that's free?

Not that I am aware of and I was surprised how often I needed EasyWMA.

Cost $10 which I thought was a bargain.

Plus it saves me having to use the dreadful Windows Media Player (it's just about bearable but hardly a great Mac app, on Windows it's not as bad) so I can use iTunes or just about any other player.

FFMpegX can covert a lot of different formats - probably can do wma's too.
It's shareware, but will convert the entire file for you.
