iTunes has gone wonky on me

Out of nowhere, when I click on the iTunes symbol in my dock, a blank gray text box appears and my only option is to click "Okay." Nothing else. My AppleCare has run out (2011) and all IOS and iTunes updates are there.

Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Drag the iTunes icon from the Dock, and then try running iTunes from your Applications Folder.

Not sure what's going on but try running iTunes from another user account on the Mac. If it works there that suggests a corrupted preference file might be the culprit.

Try starting iTunes but hold down the option key when doing so and then navigate to where your normal users iTunes library is located. That may help get it un-confused and start working properly.
