@cheddar-caveman If you follow the link in Randy's post it leads to the download page. Click the link and the next page has a link to the 64 bit stable file. It's the one you need but the message will say that you are downloading a 32 bit Windows version.

@Randy thanks for that link. I'll be giving this one a try. Hence the reason for following the link.

I don't know what you're seeing Sly, but clicking on the big green download button on the opening page takes you directly to the Mac download. It gives you a choice of the current stable version or the beta - both 64 Bit. I don't know where you're getting the Windows 32 bit message from?

I did that and saw the same pages that you did Charlie. If you click the link for the current stable release there is a very brief message that says it is downloading a 32 bit Windows version. This is the kind of message that lots of sites use to tell you the download is starting. The message is wrong. It does indeed download the Mac version.

Things seem to have settled down now after running the various Safari resetting options and a full Onyx session so will stay with Safari for now as I've got used to it.
Many thanks for all the help, I'll keep all the links for (hopefully not) future problems!
