item cannot be written because a disk error occured

I'm having trouble copying files to the server from a laptop. I'm getting the following error: "the item <filename> cannot be written because a disk error has occured. Do you want to continue?"

I am logged in as the administrator with full rights and I can use another computer to login to the server and copy files to it and I know there's enough space on the server.

I've tried to burn the files to CD and then try to copy the files from the CD to the server and I get the same error message. I can open the files locally with no problem.

I'm thinking it's an OS issue but I don't know. Any ideas?

it ounds like a problem with the file you're trying to transfer, what sort of file is it? maybe the file is corrupt?
