I am one who prefers to leave their computer running over night for a few days then let it rest then leave it, rest, etc

Problem is when I close my lid it disconnects me from the net, how can I stay connected 24/7 incase I was downloading a huge file (like a movie, program etc (all legal of course) I have a cable modem but some files are still to big to fly with it. And I'd like to leave my messenger up all night for messages from friends, whatever.

I know a friend with an ibook who always has his away message on like "sleeping" and he is still connected, we sleep different scheds and never get a chance to ask him. Is this not possible on the PB or something I need to look at... thanks

i havent quite figured out how to solve , but neither could Einstein
