Is there an OSX app similar to Doskey (Windows)

I found this very useful for repeating previously typed text ( ie for Google Search) or commands in Windows.

I know about Terminal, I'm looking for something... ideally an app... that's as simple to use as Doskey ( which records keystrokes for ease of re-typing automatically)

Take a look at Keyboard Maestro.
Keyboard Maestro 5.3.2: Work Faster with Macros for Mac OS X

OS X also has a tool called "Automator" that may fit your needs. It's not well known, but a skilled power user will find it immensely useful.
