I am buying a Macbook Pro and I am looking at all the options and available software/extra add-ons before buying.

I've watched all the iLife previews including the one about iWeb and I was wondering if after designing your page in iWeb you need to have a .mac subscription in order to put it on the internet. If so is there any alternative because none of the other .mac features seem to appeal to me.

Thanks so much in advance, I can't wait to get my new computy!:D

You don't have to use .Mac to publish your site. Unfortunately, iWeb only offers your .Mac account for direct publishing. But you can definitely save the files in a folder and then use a FTP program to upload the files to your site.

I personally find iWeb to be very lacking in features. There is a link somewhere on MacForums for a free copy of RapidWeaver, which has a far better feature set.
