I currently have Google Drive as my cloud service, and am using Mac OS Sierra and was wondering what the best or safest way to upload a Carbon Copy Clone of my hard drive is. I currently have used Carbon Copy Cloner to make a bootable clone of my hard drive, which created a Folder on my EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE that is supposed to be bootable. Then, I used Apple's Disk Utility application to make a .dmg file, as well as using 7zip to create a compressed .7z file (both methods on same folder just to be safe). I uploaded both to the web. I am wondering if compression or using .dmg would ruin the Carbon Copy Clone, which resides in a folder in my hard drive. In other words, if in the future I want to boot from the Clone Folder, would it be possible for me to uncompress the .7z file and/or open the .dmg file and be able to boot from it after placing the extracted folder onto an External Hard Drive? Would the .dmg-ing or compressing (.7z) of the Carbon Copy Clone Folder ruin anything? Thanks!
