well i took a day off to download and put music on my iPod. so at the end of the day i put 17GB's on it. so after i wanted to hear it in my car so i unplugged it. then the Apple sign came on. everything i put on the iPod was deleted :eek:neye: . so now when i put album covers on for the music it shows up scrambled on my iPod. is it defective or is there some way to fix this?

Did you eject it before unplugging it, or did you just unplug it without first dragging it to the trash or using the eject button within iTunes...?

umm... you're supposed to eject your iPod. This can be done in iTunes by hitting the little button that looks like an arrow next to your iPod in the left window.

see if that solves everything.

You may need to soft reset your iPod by holding down the Center and Menu buttons for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. If that doesn't work hook it back yup to your mac, open the latest firmware installer and click "Restore". This will reset the iPods firmware . Note it will also zap all of your music and leave the iPod blank.
