iPod incrementing itunes play count

Hi, whenever I synchronise my iPod using itunes, any songs that I have listened to on my iPod get added to the play count column on itunes. Is there any way to stop this from happening so that the play count column only reflects the plays from my itunes?

o i have been searching everywhere for this same exact issue.... i want my ipod playcount to be separate from my itunes playcount

i havent had any luck finding a solution
