ipod broke!!!! HELP!!!

hey

my ipod is seriously stuffed! it isnt recognised by any computer (pc or mac)
well actually it was briefy recognised by the mac-said something along the lines of cant read any of the data and told me to eject it. but now nothing happenes when its plugged in. and it simply wont play songs! it just freezes up! ive tried doing the menu and middle button thing but it doesnt help


any ideas??

will it mount at all on the desktop? what os are you running, and what are your macs specs?

load up the ipod formatter from the disc. it will say please connect ipod. this should work.

i tried reformating it-suprised that even acknowledged it since it still wont mount on the desktop. anyway, it didnt work! it said there was an unexpected error, error -39. then a bit later it said - u have inserted a disk with no volumes that mac os can read


ahhh! any other suggestions?

macman: im running 10.3.9. powerbook 1 ghz 768 memory

if it makes any difference- the ipod is formated for pc. but absolutly nothing happens when plugged into one

error code - 39 = End of file; no additional data in the format, will the ipod play songs when not plugged in to the computer? I ask only because if it doesn't, there could be an issue with the ipods hard drive. also, just in case, cause this happened to me once, try disconnecting the ipod's wire from the dock and the computer, make sure both ends are clean, if you use the dock, make sure that the connectors on the ipod and dock are as dust free as possible, reconnect everything, and see what happens.

its finally worked! no idea why... but hey im happy. took 9 tries but it finally reformated
