iPhoto troubles

2011 Macbook Pro, latest OS, 16GB RAM, 500 GB SSD
suddenly getting a message that IPhoto cannot me opened because of a problem. Just moved all my files from OS X.8 to OS X.10 and updated iPhoto and library. Downloaded iPhoto Library upgrader and copied my photo library, but got the same message - iPhoto Library Upgrader cannot me opened because of a problem - when I tried to run it.... any help will be appreciated.

spoke with apple; they said to reinstall iPhoto from app store. I did. still same problem. Apple's next suggestion was to repair permissions on HD. I did. Still same problem. Am I the only one experiencing this?
