iphoto alert crashes iphoto

When ever i open iphoto i get an alert that says this whatever.avi i missing from my computer and then the program crashes and wont let me choose a file or a replacement file, or ever press cancel for that matter. is there any way of stopping iphoto looking for this file, can i got in to the

library file and take this .avi out from within there.

2 iMacs 17+20" 2.16GHz 2GB RAM 500MB HDD 256MB Graphic card. 60Gig 5th gen iPod with Video
I'd try basics first .

Repair permissions.

Drag the iPhotoplist out to your desktop and try to re launch iPhoto. If it works trash the old plist.

Try loging on as a new user to see if it's only on your account this happens.

Maybe a re Boot will fix it ?

If you know the name of the .avi then do a Spotlight search for it.

You could also try holding down the Command and Option keys when starting iPhoto - it should ask you if you want to rebuild your library.
