I am not an iPhoto or Photos user, so I'll defer to those who are to chime in, but normally, if you are running an older, but still supported version of the OS, then Apple apps that are for that version are also supported. Maybe that changed with the release of Photos to replace iPhoto, but I do know that Mavericks users could get to the latest version of iPhotos even after El Cap was released. Don't know why you can't. One solution could be to move up to Yosemite, if you have the installer for it. Actually El Cap is pretty good, too, and is an even quicker version Yosemite, IMHO.</blockquote>
