I know this maybe a silly question but is it concievable to be able to sync an iphone with a macbook either by bluetooth or wirelessly if both macbook & iphone are connected to the same access point? If this is possible, is it being done currently and if so, whats the app or script used to do this, or if you have any ideas on this leave a post

Cheers

Maybe with a hacked or Jailbroken phone, but not with the Apple firmware. It is possible that is something OS4 may address.

I have not read the Apple sales pitch, but the rumors sites are touting it as a possibility.

Doubt it:[ But why the heck would you want to do that :Confused

You're kidding, right? Syncing your music or data to your computer wirelessly is one of things lots of folks want for the iPhone. I use to be able to do it with my Palm 700P some years ago and it was extremely handy, no cables to mess with, just sync when the phone is withing range.

I really don't understand the problem. My brother bought an iPhone 3G a few months ago (or was it 3G s), brought it home, set it on the table, opened his Macbook (2008 white) and it started syncing without even telling it to. He did not type one button and the phone was syncing with his Macbook. And he is by no means a tech whiz! So, what's the big deal??

It's not a problem, but the convinience of being able to sync wirelessly would be nice. What if he didn't have to plug it inot the machine but just sync it from anywhere in the house? Pretty darn convinient if you ask me...

Why is it when one asks a question someone always has to ask why you would want to do that?

It seems pretty obvious to me that it can be incredibly useful to sync over wireless. If possible you can automate sync-ing over wireless. How cool would it be just walking into the house to have your contacts and agenda's sync-ed, and have the latest podcasts on your iPhone. I really do hope they build this into OS 4. I mean cmon Apple, this is technically possible and key functionality...

Well, getting your contacts, mail & calendar synced wirelessly is easy: get a Gmail account. Google Sync automatically keeps your mail, contacts & calendars synced wirelessly and instantly for free.

Note that you have to set it up as an MS Exchange account, and you can currently only have one Exchange acct. configured on the iPhone, so if you already have a corporate Exchange acct. set up on your iPhone, you're out of luck.

But it's free, easy & works great. Google Sync for your phone

As far as being able to sync with iTunes wirelessly, I don't see that happening; how else would Apple justify their MobileMe service and keep screwing people by making them buy all new accessories & connectors every time they change their product line each year?
