Hello,
I have an iPhone 5s (A1453) which is locked to Sprint. If I unlock it, shall I be able to use any GSM sim card with it ? Info. tells that 5s(A1453) is a world phone and supports GSM/CDMA/LTE

I am from India. Plz help me to sort this problem out.

Thank you.

Yes, the Sprint and Verizon CDMA iPhone 5s have a sim slot that can be used to operate the phone on GSM. The Sprint phone will have to be unlocked first, Verizon phones are already unlocked. The Sprint and Verizon iPhone 5s are dual phones.

If you do not have the iphone unlocked yet Sprint may argue with you about it. You will have to be out of any contract too or you will have to pay out of it. You can google it and find that many have had this problem. Be persistent. It can be done.

Also there maybe some features that won't work due to proprietary software that Sprint adds or it may be their propaganda to get you to not unlock it. I have Sprint only because they have the best service in my area but there are times with their support people I get very frustrated.

Sprint prices and plans are currently fairly aggressive and getting better. But I'll still stick with T-Mobile since their plans and prices are the lowest and service is very good here in the Dallas - Fort Worth area.

But something about Sprint which is new... Since Radio Shack has gone belly up in Chapter 11, it appears Sprint will take over most of their stores and maybe even the company itself. A very bold move on Sprint's part.

Yeah, just like they made with Nextel. I originally had Nextel as did most of my neighbors. The two-way feature was a big hit for us rural folks. Sprint came along and slowly dismantled it. I believe it turned into a huge debacle. As for Radio Shack - we shall see. I just hope they don't bankrupt themselves.

Sometimes I feel like I have played signal, signal, hunt for the signal most of my cellphone life. For now Sprint is giving me the best service and definitely the cheapest. My iPhone has been the best phone I have ever had for getting and holding a connection.
