Ok i have the latest iPhone 3GS and i don't seem to be able to put people on hold, when i'm in a call i press 'hold' it flashes grey then goes back to white, i have tried restoring it, i don't know what to do, all the other functions work but 'hold' doesn't. Its really annoying! i'm still under warranty, could i send it back to apple?

Thanks in advance.

I do believe that the hold button only works when you are managing more then one call. The button you are looking for with just one call is " Mute"

Hold should work. You'd want to use that in order to place a 2nd call and create a conference call - at least on the 3GS.

Yep, if you've already tried a restore, I'd take it in and let someone check it out for you.

Might try powering it off and back on first - that's cured a multitude of things also.

I guess I have never tried it that way. I have always pushed the add call button which puts the 1st person on hold why you dial the next number , then hit the merge calls button.
I guess I have learned something new today:D

We both did, don't think I've used the add call button. But then I've only made one conference call in 2 1/2 years I've had my iPhone.
