Why would my iphone 3G keep connecting to the edge network?

Probably has something to do with the fact that there isn't 3G coverage?

I have never had this issue before in this area and it was working fine all day. It just connects every once and a while.

it all depends on where you are located and atmospherics. The Network could be experiencing problems with hardware, software or high user volume. When the 3G network starts to become saturated the coverage area shrinks and you will drop back to the EDGE. This can vary day by day and on how the network itself is configured.
