I think that the rumored iPad pro could be a fantastic device if they made it something like the surface pro. If they gave it desktop software, usb ports, and a keyboard I would definately buy it and use it as a laptop.

Apple will never do that. The MS Surface Pro runs Windows not a mobile operating system. The new Apple MacBook and the recently refreshed MacBook Air models are much better suited as a light weight device.

iPad Pro

I don't think that they should do this as a replacement for the light weight laptop, I think this should serve as a cheaper, touch screen option. I just think that Apple could majorly succeed with such a product, and that they should look into it.

I would be one of the first in line to buy a touchscreen device running full version of OS X.

It would not be a cheaper option. The touchscreen costs more money and you still need the same hardware they're already putting in the MacBook Air.
