iOS 8 Texting

I am not fond of the new suggested words "feature" of the texting function of iOS 8. It uses a lot of screen space and I find it distracting and actually slows down the process. I accidentally managed to shut it off yesterday and it was replaced by a little bar.

Thats the good news. The bad news is I couldn't resist and tapped the little bar icon and now the words are back.

Does anybody know how to turn it back off?

How to turn off "Predictive Text" in iOS 8

Thanks, cshcag. There are some good tips in there. But what I was referring to is that line of word suggestions directly under the area in which you type your texts.

The good news, for me anyhow, is that I figured out how to make it disappear. If you hold you finger on that line of words and slide down it goes away to be replaced by a little bar image. Slide that bar up and the words reappear.
