On our imap earthlink email account that we have had for years we are no longer getting emails in the Inbox for both iPhone, and iPad.

We are receiving earthlink emails in the inbox on our iMacs, and Powerbook but no longer on the IOS devices.

This is really annoying, all setting are accurate, why no emails.

What did Apple do now?

How do fix this?

Apple probably didn't do anything, but Earthlink may well have changed something. How do you know the settings are accurate? Can you go to Earthlink's support site to get what the setting should be and then re-enter them on the iDevices? I don't know much about Earthlink myself, maybe someone else knows more and can suggest other things, but I would start by making sure I really had the correct and current Earthlink settings.

On the iDevices, delete the accounts and re-establish them from scratch. You should not lose anything and doing that will force the iDevice Mail app to renegotiate with Earthlink. Did you actually check with Earthlink for the settings or are you still comparing the iDevice to the Mac settings?

This started a few days. Tried everything, turn off SSL, deleted and added account, etc. Both the IOS iPhone and iPad say inbox updated but no emails in inbox, it is empty. Have sent numerous test messages but none received on any IOS device. Earthlink support is useless.

Apple has not had any reports of their IOS email not working.

Maybe it will clear itself up once Earthlink discovers they have a problem.

Any other ideas?

Have you tried powering off and then restarting the iDevices? Also, Earthlink seems to have online chat support. Have you tried that? If the settings are correct you should be getting messages in Mail.

I did all that thanks however just finished with Earthlink support and all my email setting are correct I keep getting the message on the iphone and ipad that the IOS Host server imap.earthlink.net can not connect wanting me to save it but not be able to receive emails.

I do believe this is an apple issue. Earthlink works on all other devices Mac, and Android with out issue. Just will not work on IOS devices.

It asks me if I want to set it up without SSL I say yes error message imap.earthlink.net is not responding. There is the problem.

Saving it does no good. It will not sync new email.

Apple needs to look at this.

Apple needs to look at this.

If you feel this is an Apple problem, then we suggest you contact them thru technical support based on your warranty. Or, you can try the Apple Public Support Forums:

Not sure how a problem with a server named "imap.earthlink.net" is an Apple problem. Mail doesn't need to pass through any Apple server or system to get to your iPhone. If Earthlink has a dedicated server just for Apple, they don't say so here: https://support.earthlink.net/articles/email/how-to-setup-your-email-on-ios-9-devices.php
but that article hasn't been updated in a long time. They do say in that article they have an app in the App Store, if that helps at all.

Do they have a user forum where other iDevice users would be complaining and looking for a solution? That may be something to check out to see if someone has a solution there. It's NOT a generic Apple problem as my imap email is arriving just fine from my mail server.

Is it possible that the IOS devices are set to only show you unread mail? I recently set my iPhone that way and forgot about it. Imagine my surprise later in the night when an inbox which shows several hundred messages on my my Mac (all previously read) suddenly show no messages on my phone. No messages showed because there were no unread messages in that account when I checked it.

That's a good thing to check. However, that is no longer an option when running iOS 13.6 or 7. Where do you see that with the latest version of iOS?

I didn't start using that option till a couple of weeks ago. I'm running an IOS 14 beta and didn't realize that wasn't in IOS 13.

It is still there. In the Inbox view, lower left corner is a circle with lines. Tap that and the filter comes on and the circle becomes solid blue. In the center you can set what the filter is filtering through. iOS 13.7. Tap the circle again to remove the filter.

I had thought of that but his picture doesn't show the circle in the "filter on" mode, so I didn't say anything about it. But maybe it's worth cycling to just make sure it's not somehow blocking mail.

Thanks Jake. Talk about a "hidden" feature..... I guess I do not read mail very often on my iPhone and was not aware of that filter. Probably a good idea to check it and/or cycle it like you said.

Confirmed on my iPad and iPhone, both running iOS 13.7

Could be quite easy to tap on this small icon by mistake as one scrolls through the list. That said, I'd never noticed previously. Good find Sly and Jake.

I think that's how I discovered it. I'd never used that feature before and I think I found it by accident.

This is so strange. Both the iphone and ipad no messages in the inbox. Sent mailbox syncs perfectly, can send email no issues. However, either device can not sync emails from the Earthlink imap inbox server. Did get it to work with POP server but I don't want that. I have tried everything. Someone else must be having this issue. Earthlink says there is nothing wrong with their email servers. No issue with iMac, or Powerbook, Windows, or Android phones. This is a apple mail IOS issue. I did turn off the filter to see if that mattered, no change.

I did find on the Web where this exact issue happened with other Email clients like Gmail, etc.

I had to download the Earthlink IOS app to read emails, or use their web mail which I do not like.

Thanks
