Internal hard drive into an external!

Hi! What do you need to buy to use a desktop mack internal drive into an external? I have an 10 year old desktop running 10.5. I need to check out a few of these drives:

Your Mac's Specs
2011 27" iMac, 1TB(partitioned) SSD, 20GB, OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan
The most common ones are the USB external enclosures to accept either the 2.5" or 3.5" drives whichever your's is and the drive just slides in and connects to the internal enclosure's connector.
The USB cable completes the connection when it's connected.
