Intel iMac vs. PowerMac G5

I'm on quite a limited budget and need a good computer for video editing with Final Cut Pro and use of Adobe CS3. I really want a Mac Pro but that's way out of my league money wise. I'd rather have a tower than an all-in-one, but I'm worried that the PowerPC architecture will lack proper support from software companies in the future.

So, I come to you all in a cloud of confusion--any recommendations?

Intel is the way to go. PPC Macs, as much as I love mine, are not getting any younger. There is very little chance that Snow leopard ie OSX 6. will work on them so you will be stuck on OSX 5. Leopard.
