Hey everybody. Due to school, i am now in the market for a G5. I have a few questions first (*let me also inform you that this will be primarily used for web design, graphic design, and other types of digital media):

-What is the difference between non ECC ram and ECC ram? Is one faster than the other?
-How do the 2.3GHz Dual-core processors do? Theres two of them right?
-Can media (photoshop projects and stuff) be trasnfered between mac and PC with relative ease?

Now for those of you who do the same type of work, how is your setup configured? What kind of editing do you do, how well does it handle all the software, etc? Thanks!

- According to this it doesn't seem worth it for ECC RAM - server use usually and slower due to using some of its memory for error correction. I know G5's can be finicky when it comes to RAM - Check crucial.com or similar site for best compatability.
- I've heard the dual-core help greatly in the rendering process (After Effects, FCP, etc.) but only in programs that utilize them.
- Projects between PC and Mac should go with ease. From my experience (which may differ from others here) it's a pretty painless process, for sure with Adobe.

Here at the studio we use Powemac G4s and G5s - dualies for video production and single for design. All minimum 1GB RAM and run efficiently. No problems with software (Adobe, Macromedia, Apple, Discreet, Avid, list goes on) and stable (except just recently but we found that was user error- sorry Brandon ;) )
