Import 16:9 quicktime 16:9 file to iMovie

I can't properly import a 16:9 movie to iMovie. The movie is 853*480, nevertheless it appears like a 4:3 distorted movie.
Could you help me?

I'm not sure if this will help at all, but I'll try. Go to your Preferences in iMovie and click on the "general" tab. Make sure the box that says "Automatically resize window to fit project" is checked. If it is, then I'm not sure if I can help you.

When you create your imovie project there should be three items to fill out or change.

Name the Project
Tell it where to put the project,
Select from Drop down menu, DV-Widescreen

Once created like this, now import your movie.

Already done it. The project is DV-widescreen.

Try HD because 853*480 is bigger than DV

It's the same (HVD 720p)

Surely 720p is stell less than 853 no?

I'm guessing you need the 1080 HD

My camcorder is 1080 High Def and imovie imports it no problem at all.
