iMovie preview multiple events simultaneously?

I take many short videos of kids playing soccer, and edit the result into a video. In old iMovie I was able to load all the footage and preview at 2x, 4x or more speed - often viewing several short clips before finding something to grab. In 10.0.5 I am reviewing video directly in the iphoto library and am only able to view one clip at a time. Am I missing something?
