iMovie import from camcorder makes double speed clips

I've been using iMovie 08 and this Sony camcorder for years with no problem. Now when I import a clip, the clip plays back at like double the proper speed. As it was importing, I could see it was normal coming out of the camera. I haven't changed any settings in iMovie nor can I find a way to adjust the sample rate or speed for importing. Any ideas?
