• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey Y'all,

I have to record myself reading a book for a college class. Before I upgraded to Snow Leopard I was able to detach the audio, delete the video, and be left with just the purple audio track which I could edit.

Now on this version of iMovie, I can seperate the audio and video, but when I go to remove the video portion it deletes my entire clip (video and audio).

What do I do because this is ticking me off?

If all you need is an audio track of you reading a book, why are you creating a video?

I'm sure there are other ways to do it. But open up Garageband - in New Project select Podcast - press the record button, start reading, press the stop button. Do whatever editing you want.

On the menu go to Share - Export Podcast to iTunes - decide whether you want a AAC or mp3 file - and done.

I just know how to edit on iMovie. Never used Garage Band. Needed to add little sound effects as well. Just didn't know how easy I could edit on Garage Band.

This sounds a little convoluted but...you could just do all recording in imovie with effects etc...Render the movie, then strip the audio with handbrake or an online audio ripper....

Thats what I want to do, but was unsure how to just keep the audio.
