When I go into iMessage and go into the field which enables me to enter the name of the recipient, I can see old phone numbers that I have already deleted from my iPhone contacts and Mac contacts. They are no-where in my contacts for my iPhone and Macbook. It is not even in iCloud...
I tried the method of deleting devices in 'My Support Profile'. I even did a clean reinstallation of MAC OSX. No luck
