Hi!

I want to buy a new computer for my university classes in multimedia and I wanted to buy a Mac to have three OSes (OS X (maybe Leopard...), Windows XP and Ubuntu [Linux distribution]).

So, I want to buy a Mac computer relatively powerful and who will not be downgraded too much until 3-4 years.

I'm hesitating between the new iMac rumored to and the cheapest MacBookPro...
My budget is approximatively of 2000$CAN (1900$US)

What are your thoughts about that?

A Macbook will run multiple operating systems just fine. The latest Macbook (even the low end one) is faster than my first-generation Macbook Pro, and my machine has simultaneously run two instances of XP and OS/2.

You're going to want at least 2gig of RAM however.

all Macs will probably be majorly updated over the next 3-4 years. A couple will probably be competely redesigned.
