I was typing at Gmail in Safari. I closed Safari, walked away to answer the telephone, and when I came back the screen was DARK — so dark I could barely see the screen at all.
On my MacAir I googled “iMac screen gone dark” which opened a page that instructed me to click on Apple menu>System Settings>Display>Brightness. It wasn't easy on so dark a screen, but that fixed it.
But — the Brightness setting was as far to the left as it could go. I didn't do that. The Apple memo was not open. What could have caused the display to change radically? Was it something I said?
