Does Apple live in the 1980's? You can't be serious. The floppy drives live in the 1980's. Even Dell doesnt even give you floppy drives anymore. You have to add them for another 20-40 bucks. No one uses Floppy anymore. People use CD's DVD's or flash drives. I think perhaps you should join us in the 21st century.

The reason Apple's don't have floppy drives is becuase they *aren't* in the 80's...

CDs are just as cheap, more durable (debatable), and can hold much more info.

Does that answer your question?

I use CD-RW because they are rewriteable and just ease of use. Floppies are ok but they don't hold that much space.

But izis not true! Everyone uses floppy drives!

i just cleaned out a pile of disks from old computers yesterday. I threw about 150 Floppy Disks in the garbage because they will never be used.

people nowadays do no t use floppies except under special circumstances. or unless their computers are very old and they have no other choice but to use them.

i ask two questions from you: why do you need floppy disks? why does everyone else in the world need floppy disks?

I have to admit that when I first looked at the Power Mac G5, I was taken aback by the fact that there was no floppy. This is the first computer I have ever owned that didn't have a floppy. But the honest truth is that you don't really need them anymore. They are useful if you booting Linux on the same machine - you can put the GRUB or LILO loader there and thus not mess up your harddrive, but that is about it. When it was all said and done, I went out and got myself a USB ZIP 250 drive and added that to my Power Mac G5. All of my other computers have ZIP drives, and so I now have a sort of "supersized floppy" for transferring files (plus FTP of course).

I honestly don't miss the floppy drive at all. It made sense to have a 1.4 MB I/O device back in the early 80's, when drives were only in the 100-200 MB size range, but these days, many programs generate single files that are larger than 1.4 MB. The floppy sizing factor has become irrelevant in today's world.

Believe me that you wouldn't need floppies because you can reburn again and again on a CD-RW and delete files like you do on your floppies.

CD, same thing as floppies but with more space and better.
