Has anyone noticed this? I get people being impressed when I tell them I have an iMac more so than saying if you have an Apple Notebook. Why is this?

Especially there seems to be PPC iMac envy now-a-days when I talk with people...

I guess its cos theres nothing like the imac out on the pc market, its just so far ahead of anything in that form factor, but with the laptop, loads of companies are trying to copy apple so its not as unique.

Have you seen the newer Sony laptops? That thing is just dying to be a mac. When I saw it from a distance the first time in Best Buy I thought it was a mac.

I saw some Sony laptops in CompUSA the other day and thought to myself:
"Oh look, Apple and Lenova finally had a baby!"

Lol.

I try and spread the Mac-ness everywhere and convert Dos users hehe.

Agreed Jhorra. I did a double take the first time I saw one - I was sure it was an iMac. But on closer inspection, it isn't, and it isn't NEARLY as "cool"!

I still think the lamp iMacs had a more stunning visual appeal. I show my siblings that style and they're absolutely AMAZED by how cool it looks.

Though I've noticed that people tend to ask me about Macs when I whip out my Macbook while all the PC laptop users go unnoticed :black:

Per BoA's comment above, I wonder if in a year or so, there will be true PPC Mac nostalgia, and people who have PPC Macs will be considered to be the "true Mac faithful", or the "real Mac faithful", or some other such idea....

Didn't apple have sony engineers help design apple laptops awhile ago? I've heard this more then once, but can't confirm it.

I see no resemblence between the two.

I get that quite alot at uni. Although it could be people trying to find an excuse to look at my backgrounds...(which seem to mainly consist of very attractive and clothed women :D)

That's the cool thing about macs... You can go and tell someone you own an iMac and its instantly not geekish talk and stuff. I love my PPC iMac. :p
