Is this a wired or wireless keyboard and mouse? Try a different port, if it is wired.

everything is plugged in, i've tried all 3 USB ports, nothing. its stuck. Sometimes when i do switch them it works for a second then everything doesn't work

i have bad luck man, i think i better take it back to CompUSA.

I did install clear dock and this all happened once i inserted a DVD and it did not read it. Couldn't even eject it...

Telll me this, do you have any sort of External USB HUB plugged into the Imac? If so, I have had problems once in a while when certain External USB Hubs were plugged into my Macs. The Keyboard and Mouse would not show up. Unplugging the HUB fixed it evertime. Some Hubs have to be powered or they will do that.

nope no HUBS the thing is brand new.

i have OnyX on there and ran it once but... i don't see how that would mess things up. i'm running a hardware test now. maybe i should do a complete re-install of OS X

Just asking. I had a 4Port Hub on my Mini the day I bought it. That is the only thing I have seen make the USB keyboard on any modern mac not work unless there was a problem with the Keyboard itself.

Well, look at the bright side, if they can't fix it, you'll get a new iMac without a scratch on it.

i don't even want them to attempt to fix it, i have a very bad taste in my mouth with this store. first the apple rep LIES to me about the Applecare now this. I am wondering if i should just demand a refund w/no restocking fee and just go to the Apple Store and buy it from them, maybe i will have better luck????

I could always just demand a brand new iMac G5 and inspect it before they put the RAM back in... argh  please guys, advice!? I'm going at around noon to CompUSA and I will have my warface on.

Just return it if you can, I thought you were going to get it from Apple with a student discount?

i wanted to but my girlfriend liked the 36mo financing better than the discount (don't ask) and she liked the fact we got the MS Office 04 for free after rebates. And I liked the PNY 512 RAM for only $60 after rebate.

but look where it got us!

just called CompUSA corporate and according to the CSR he said we will have no problem exchanging it for the exact same iMac. I asked for the regional manager's name and their phone number just in case (what good is that gonna do?).

UPDATE. Wow, what an ordeal. Well I got mad but I got a brand new iMac G5. This time with no scratches and the fan sounds quiet as can be!? I am wondering if I got a "used" iMacG5 before. For one the manager accused me of taking off the UPC sticker. I had no idea there was one on the box. Also there was a packaging slip on it that I never noticed (like it was going to be shipped out). So now the manager is eluding to the fact I took the UPC sticker off and put on some packing slip!?!?! Oh I got mean. I just told him why do you have to get confrontational and suspicious, i just want a working iMac G5 and I do not want this one back!" Well the tech dept. checked it out and sure enough the guy is like, "Wow, this thing is F*****" oh that's nice. So in the end I got a new iMacG5.

I think this so called Apple Rep got mad at me and gave me a used iMac G5 or maybe it was an iMac G5 that was getting ready to be shipped back to Apple! The sticker said they got that iMac G5 into their store on 12/18/04 yet the one I got today says [edit] 2/15/2005. Hmmmmmm. LESSON?

DO NOT BUY AN APPLE AT CrapUSA! I'm keeping my fingers crossed guys, but this whole ordeal was just downright dumb and suspicious...
