iMac G4 15 inch floating screen won't boot

My old iMac G4 won't boot up. It is stuck on the gray screen with a flashing "?" and "file folder" icon in the center. What should I do to fix this issue?

your hard drive has crashed and you need to reinstall the o.s or replace the hard drive because that model of macintosh was a ide hard drive of which a lot of manufactures don't make you might have to buy a used one on amazon

Thanks for your reply. This sucks for me because I had a lot of family pics on that hard drive that I had not backed up. ?
