iMac boot problem

Which Mac and which version of the OS is involved here? That will affect how we are able to boot the system and test the hard drive. Also, how much space is used on the drive and how much is free?

Thank you so much for responding to my post...
I tried something which worked to restore the system - I had a backup from another iMac that I was able to use to do a full restore.
It took hours and hours but the iMac seems to be running great.
