imac 21.5 late 2015 power supply replacement

Have a imac 21.5 (late 2015 emc 2833 2.8 ghz) that shuts down and refuses to power up.

Looking into doing a power source replacement. Any advice?

First, you need to make certain that it is the power supply. Are you able to startup your iMac at all or is it dead? If it starts and then shuts down, it may not be the PS.

But if you do need a PS for your iMac here are some suggestions:

Love the A26...
The iMac will shutdown from sleep. The iMac will shut down when in use.
I unplug it, reset smc and sometimes it will restart.

Thanks for the advice! This is my very 1st iMac repair. It was so simple. It took less than 1hr to do. The iMac is operational again.

if not a power supply, what else could be causing it? Im having the same issue. happens about every 3 months, it restarts without warning. reinstalling the OS seems to fix it for a while....

Could be from a kernel panic. Have you checked your logs after the restart? That will tell you what happened.

never checked logs. don't know much about how to do that. what would I be looking for? I think I did get the grey screen with the kernel panic warning the last time this happened...... how do I fix if its a kernel panic? checking the logs now..

When it happens, copy and post the kernel panic log here for us to look at. We'll try to see if it tells us what's going on.

Another thing you can try is download the free EtreCheck app from the Mac App Store, run it, and then post the readout here for us to look over.
