I have an Imac 2014, I also have a MBP 2011. I have recently had to reinstall the MBP OS from an install USB. Done this a few times and had no problems at all, this time however the OS has installed but the MBP cannot see the Imac and visa versa.
I have everything ticked in Finder preferences, i'm trying everything but I am not an Apple nerd, no insult intended.
Can anyone shed a glimmer of light for this old man..................

What Mac OS versions is each of those Mac models running?

Were both Macs able to see and communicate with each other before you did the reinstall?

Have you shut down and rebooted each Mac, and did that improve anything?

I presume you are wanting to do some sort of file sharing or or file transfer or some similar operation?

Here are some suggestions you could try if the file sharing isn't working…

Nor sure on the Imac, last I saw was Big Sur and it's had a couple of updates since then.
The MBP has High Sierra 10.13.6.
I would sat the mac is not the problem.

The MBP I reinstalled fron a usb stick that I bought. The os works perfectly apart from the net work side.
Normally I would click on the cloud to see my files, this still happens on the Imac, but the MBP shows just two folder, Documents and Desktop.
Non of my cloud files

I cannot help as I hardly ever use anything to do with iCloud but it sounds like the backup or clone you used wasn't done properly and didn't collect everything you need.

Can you access the iCloud and reinstall it on the machine that's missing the link to it?
