If you can get by until, say, spring of '06 then hold off. Updates are inevitable in the computer business. Ask yourself if you really need the PB right now? If so, than get it. If not, wait. It'll come.

if your going to wait until spring 06, you might as well wait until fall 06, then you might as well wait until 07 blah blah, theres always always going to be an update. on mac rumors buying guide, it claims apple is trying to get intel processors sooner. Who knows, its a game of chance, might as well get one now and enjoy

I only say wait for computer stuff if:

1.You can't afford it/don't need it

2.The current build of the product in question is brand new or really buggy.

Otherwise buy! it's going to change regardless of wether or not you buy.

So have fun with your PB

totally agree. even if by some miracle apple was to release a intel PB in q4 05, or q1 06, it would probably be buggy as ****, and i dont know if the software manufacturers will have intel versions shipping by then. i sure wouldnt want to have to use every program through that rosetta nonsense

I could not have said it better myself. :black:

Besides, even on the extremely off chance that you bought a computer and the line was updated two weeks later, its not like the machine you bought would suddenly become an obsolete piece of trash. You would still have an excellent machine, that would be extremely capable.

Listening to the rumor hounds just plain doesn't make sense. The ONLY time I would suggest waiting a little, would be IF and ONLY IF you were thinking about buying a Mac about a week before the WWDC (usually mid-summer). THEN, it would be smart to wait for the WWDC to come and go, as updates of all kinds (displays, software, accessories, etc....not just the computer lines) are usually introduced during the conference. Other than that one time of the year...one week before the WWDC... I say just get the Mac when you want to and stop waiting.

Yes, but what if we want the LAST G4 update BEFORE Intel?

you wont know which one is the last ppc revision until the intel actual comes out. apple ususally does a good job of hiding product releases. if a new ppc revision comes out next week it may be the last one, it may not. its a big guessing game, and they aren't getting too much better so it wouldnt be that much of an increase.

Unless of course, the rumor of a +300 MHz possibility and DDR2 RAM happens.

They were both rumors. Who knows what's true? Even if JUST the RAM were true, that would be big enough.
