idvd not creating theme on disk

I have made a disk for my son of episodes of a show he likes recorded on Eye Tv which I have exported into quicktime movies. I then used these movies in idvd6 (10 in total all 12 minutes long) and created a theme with a short background movie. I then burnt the project to a Panasonic DVD-R disc and on playback have found that when the menu appears the only thing that shows is the highlighted text for the first movie. The rest of the screen is black and therefore doesn't show my theme or the background to it. I can scroll through my 10 movies fine with each playing fine. I have tried my disk on 3 players with the same result. Would anyone know why this might have happened.

I have done this on an imac 20" which is 9mths old
