icloud mail

Somehow I removed icloud mail from Apple mail and now I cannot get it back. When I sign into icloud and enter my password, the screen is greyed out?
Using Yosemite on iMac

I'm not sure what screen you're referring to but in System Preferences > iCloud, make sure Mail is enabled.

It's the screen in preference where you sign into your iCloud account . Once I sign in the screen is greyed out so I have no control.

Is the entire preference pane greyed out or only parts of it?

Thanks vansmith. I did what my old IT director at work always suggested. Power off, power on and the problem is solved. It did the trick.
