ICal sending out schedule Corrections

I changed a lunch date and without my consent, a cancellation was sent to the person I was to have lunch with. Is there a setting that will prevent messages from being sent to others when I change my calendar entries?

Calendar -> Preferences -> Advanced. Make sure "Ask before sending changes to events" is checked.
