ibook not recognizing blanks!

stupid thing, it does fine with regular cds, but when i put in a blank it wont show up, and doesnt recognize it, i tried restarting it but it said it didnt have volumes or somethin like that. please help me!

Are they blank CD's or blank DVD's?

cd's, they work fine in my imac, but the ibook just doesnt see them. should i reinstall software? what else should i try???

Repair permissions (apps->Utilities->Disk Utility->Repair volume permissions), maybe see if the disk shows up there as well.

i did the repair disk permissions and got nothin, still not recognizing the cd!
