Similar Problem with iBook g4 1.07 About two weeks ago it froze and I had to boot into safe mode to log in. Eventually that stopped working and I zeroed out the hard drive and tried to install Leopard but it would freeze every time. Tiger would install but would freeze after 5-25 minutes exactly like it did in Leopard (total lockup, doesn't go to black, just freezes). I installed Leopard onto a Powerbook G4 and copied the disk image to the iBook G4 hard drive and use G4FanControl to keep it running. The fan works perfectly, in fact I put in a new one because the old one sounded broken. It must be overheating, but, the tolerance has been greatly reduced. If I go over 40 degrees (sensor 1) it will freeze and I have to reboot. In the past it would get much hotter than that and the fans still wouldn't come on. It seems like a serious hardware issue. I suspect the graphics chips but really don't know. Please help!
