i tried installing MSN for mac
went through the step by step download & install guide
i.e. draged the prog into the application folder

then nothing, clicked double clicked on the icon but it just doesnt load
Is this because you need a more up to date version of OS X?

my heads going very slowly.....
thanks in advance guys

also... my clamshell has 2 default resolutions 640 x 480 & 800 x 600,
is there any way i can make the screen 1024 x 768 ?

i just managed to get onto the MSN for Mac download page, (dial up is painfull) it says that you need Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later, so you will need to upgrade to tiger first which you have to pay for, you could try another IM program, my favourite is Adium X, you can use i think its about 14 different networks all in one program, including msn, yahoo gmail, aim. You will have to use the older 1.06 version (the newer one needs tiger) but to use the older version you need to update OSX through software update to 10.3.9. Heres the link for adiumx http://www.adiumx.com/

Sounds like you are doing the right stuff. Try this, run the System Update to bring your Panther up to 10.3.9. If that install goes OK then you need to make sure that the software you are installing is compatible with Panther. Panther is now almost five years old!
[edit, Halo200 is right on the money]
