My iBook - the model before current G4....was making a noise yesterday then bam.Grey screen - flashing question mark.
Have reset the PRAM - and now have the chime sound back - but it won't start up.
Have tried to reach first aid from the install CD- and can get that far - and highlight the hard-drive icon - showing 28 gig - but then the repair button won't highlight - so can't press it.
I'm wondering if it could be an index prob?
Also, I can get up the initial blue screen with the icons - reload - cd - and arrow - and there is also supposed to be a HD icon there - but there is not - so it seems to be unable to detect the HD - but the first aid from the installation CD - shows it as being there.
Oh - also ran extended hardware test from CD - and it came up with "mass storage device - not detected"
